Jack Foster | Return Policy — Honest Terms. No Fine Print.

Built for You. By Definition.

The overwhelming majority of Jack Foster pieces are built to order — cut from leathers chosen by the customer, stitched to dimensions specified by the customer, finished with hardware and edge treatments selected by the customer, and produced as a single piece that did not exist before the order was placed and cannot be restocked, resold, or repurposed once it has been built to a specific person's specifications. This is not a limitation of the Jack Foster return policy. It is the nature of what Jack Foster makes — genuinely custom, genuinely made to order, and genuinely built for the specific person who ordered it rather than for a production run that can absorb a return without consequence.

Because of this, Jack Foster operates a return policy that reflects the honest reality of made-to-order American craft production — not the frictionless return window of a mass-market retailer pulling interchangeable units from a warehouse, but the considered, transparent, and fair terms of a workshop that puts significant material, time, and craft into every piece before it ships and asks the customer to take their role in the ordering process as seriously as Jack Foster takes its role in the building process.

What Cannot Be Returned

Custom and made-to-order pieces — which constitute the majority of the Jack Foster catalog — cannot be returned for reasons of preference, change of mind, or ordering error on the part of the customer. This includes but is not limited to watch straps ordered in a specific leather, colorway, width, lug width, or length; belts ordered in a specific leather, length, width, or hardware configuration; duffel bags, tote bags, and leather goods ordered in a specific material or configuration; and any piece produced to a customer-specified dimension, material selection, or construction detail that makes the finished piece specific to that customer's order.

This policy exists not to limit the customer's options but to reflect the honest reality of what it means to commission a made-to-order piece from an American artisan workshop — the leather has been cut, the hours have been invested, and the piece that cannot be returned to stock cannot be unbuilt. Jack Foster asks every customer to approach their order with the same care and the same deliberateness that Jack Foster brings to building it — to confirm their measurements, confirm their material selections, and confirm their specifications before the order is placed rather than after the piece has been built.

Sizing. The Customer's Responsibility.

Watch strap sizing, belt sizing, and the dimensions of any made-to-order leather good are the responsibility of the customer at the time of ordering. Jack Foster provides sizing guidance, measurement instructions, and direct access to the Jack Foster team for sizing questions before any order is confirmed — and the Jack Foster team encourages every customer to use those resources fully before placing an order for a sized piece. A watch strap ordered in the wrong lug width, a belt ordered in the wrong length, or any sized piece ordered to incorrect dimensions specified by the customer cannot be returned or exchanged at Jack Foster's expense.

If a sizing question exists before an order is placed — if the customer is uncertain about their wrist size, their belt length, their lug width, or any other dimension that determines the specification of the finished piece — the Jack Foster team is available to assist before the order is placed. Contact the team directly. Ask the question. Get the answer. Then place the order with the confidence that the piece being built will fit exactly as intended.

Damaged or Faulty Items. Jack Foster's Responsibility.

If a Jack Foster piece arrives damaged in transit, arrives with a manufacturing defect, or develops a fault attributable to a construction error within a reasonable period of normal use, Jack Foster will repair or replace the affected piece at no cost to the customer — because a piece that does not meet the Jack Foster construction standard is not a piece that Jack Foster stands behind, and standing behind the work is a non-negotiable part of what the Jack Foster name means.

Damaged or faulty pieces should be reported to the Jack Foster team as promptly as possible following discovery of the damage or fault, accompanied by a description of the issue and photographic documentation where possible. The Jack Foster team will assess the reported issue and communicate the appropriate resolution — repair, replacement, or in cases where neither is appropriate, a refund — directly and without unnecessary delay. Transit damage should be reported within seven days of delivery. Construction faults should be reported as soon as they are discovered.

Jack Foster does not consider normal wear and patina development — the darkening of pull-up leather, the development of flex creases, the natural aging of edge dye and hardware finish — to be damage or faults. These are the qualities that make Jack Foster leather goods more beautiful and more personal with time, and they are expected and intended outcomes of owning a piece built from genuine full-grain leather. Damage attributable to misuse, improper care, exposure to conditions outside the reasonable use parameters of the piece, or modifications made to the piece after delivery are not covered under this policy.

Vintage Collection Items

Pieces from the Jack Foster Vintage Collection — built from vintage, reclaimed, and repurposed materials — are one of a kind by definition and cannot be exchanged or replaced with an identical piece in the event of a return request, as no identical piece exists or can be produced. Vintage Collection pieces are sold as found, with the understanding that vintage and reclaimed materials carry the characteristics, the history, and the individual variation inherent to their origin — and that these qualities are the point of the Vintage Collection rather than a limitation of it. Manufacturing defects and transit damage on Vintage Collection pieces are handled under the same terms as the standard collection.

Custom Commissions

Custom commissions — pieces developed through the Jack Foster Custom program from the design phase through prototyping and final production — are non-returnable by nature of the commission process. The prototyping and sampling stage of every custom commission exists specifically to ensure that every dimension, proportion, material, and construction detail of the finished piece is confirmed and approved by the client before final production begins — making the finished piece the direct result of a collaborative confirmation process that leaves no ambiguity about what was ordered and what was built. Custom commission pieces that arrive with a construction fault or a material defect are handled under the same damaged and faulty item terms as the standard collection.
